The Rector:: AKINBO, Rasaki Yinka (PhD)

Avatar The pioneer substantive Rector, Dr AKINBO, Rasaki Yinka had his primary education at St. James Primary School, Iperu Remo between 1972 and 1978. He thereafter attended Akesan Community Grammar School, Iperu Remo between 1978 and 1983 for his secondary education.

Having crossed the first two hurdles successfully, he proceeded to the University of Ilorin where he bagged a B.Sc (Hons) in Statistics. While in the University, he won to his credit, the University Scholarship Award in the 1987/1988 academic session. Right early in his University days, he displayed exemplary traits of a great academic mind that manifested in him winning the Best Student Prize in the Department of Statistics during the 1990 Convocation ceremony. He equally won the Federal Scholarship award for the 1992/1993 batch to run his M.Sc (Statistics) programme at the University of Ibadan which he completed in January 1993.

He studied for his doctorate degree at the Federal University of Technology, Akure where he successfully completed his PhD programme in Statistics in June 2023

He is a Statistician, Data Analysis Specialist and Seasoned Polytechnic Lecturer of almost thirty-three (33) years taking him through The Polytechnic, Ibadan; Yaba College of Technology, Yaba; Lagos City Polytechnic, Ikeja and Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.

Before his appointment as the substantive Rector for OSPOHAS, he has over  10 – year experience as Chief Lecturer and Director, Industrial Liaison and Placement Office of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and had a successful two-term each as head, Mathematics and Statistics Department and Director, UNESCO/NBTE training centre.

As a seasoned researcher, Dr Akinbo is a proud member of relevant professional bodies. He is a fellow of, the Royal Statistical, UK; Member, Nigeria Statistical Association and Member American Statistical Association.

The Rector is also a Resource Person to the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Lagos State University (School of Part-Time Studies) and Polytechnics like, Yaba College of Technology as well as Lagos State Polytechnic, etc.

As an accomplished member of academia, he has published over 21 journal articles, out of which 9 were accepted and published in international journals. He has attended and presented research papers at 13 conferences, and as a versatile researcher, he has published 6 textbooks.

He is a man who delights in academic conquests, promoting efforts that aid career progression. He is not given to aloofness commonly seen in elevated positions but a leader who harbours no ill feelings towards a Colleague and subordinates alike. He does not abdicate in the face of daunting adversity but tackles challenges for resolutions that are of collective benefit. He is a jolly good fellow and of firm resolute mien in achieving set goals and objectives.

Akinbo Rasaki Yinka was born to Alhaji and Alhaja M. Akinbo of Iperu Remo, Ogun State and he is happily married with children.
